Legacy 9 (along with all the previous versions I BOUGHT) had issues which made documenting and recording ancestors a trial. When all is said and done, the main ISSUE was/is the lack of human telephone support necessary to resolve the issues. One particularly galling situation was its randomly unlinking people and with Legacy 10 >>> NOT syncing properly with the Family Tree search. More than half the time it will not link properly. Also, from the very beginning it had a rudimentary highly pixelated fonts which made reading very difficult. THAT issue plagued ALL of the Versions including legacy10.
NOW with Legacy10 release the problems have multiplied.
The app is very complex (as is Genealogy in general) and it is very difficult find out how to fix data entry errors. The index is huge BUT strangely lacking in CLEAR specific answers especially when you do NOT know what the error was that you made - which caused problems OR how to tell if it was you who made the errors.
Right now, one ancestor has some sort of bad linkage to parents and nothing I can do will fix it. NOTHING. have tried everything. Am ready to bag the whole thing except I have been working on this since 2002.
THE BIGGEST current issue IS THAT: Legacy 10 causes computer lag. Especially when connected to Family search thru the Sync module. My PC is new, has 3 large hard drives, super fast everything, yet... when Legacy 10 is open in the background it slows my machine - sometimes to a snail pace especially when I am trying to attach media to ancestors.
The day Legacy 10 was released I jumped on it & downloaded per the instructions. It had so many problems I contacted legacy. I didn't get a response for a DAY, and then only via e-mails. It has take over a WEEK of back and forth and Still no resolution. Have UNinstalled Legacy10 2x and re-installed and it still sucks. Have spent HOURS with my Dell tech support troubleshooting my computer but it is NOT the computer... it is legacy10.
Wonder why they are giving it away FREE? it is so you will buy into the parent company's genealogy app. That app is nothing more than a data scraping system like Ancestry.
I rue the day I ever got Legacy in ANY of the versions.
In summary, I would not recommend Legacy Family Tree to a friend.
